Repair of welded roofing

Replacement or repair of bituminous roofs is necessary when the coating wears out due to atmospheric effects and other factors. In order to properly assess the extent of bituminous roof repair, an assessment and inspection by a roofing specialist is required. The most common reasons for the need for repair are: cracks in the roof covering, cracks, air bubbles, worn protective layer, bounced and wrinkled bituminous coating, soaked insulating layer (in cases where the hydro and vapor insulation of the roof is incorrectly installed).

Changing the bituminous roof coating is done less often, because changing the bituminous coating is almost twice as expensive as putting one or two layers on top. In cases where the thermal insulation is insufficient, an additional layer of stone wool or polystyrene foam is placed on top of the existing old coating and the coating is glued on top. But in this case, it is necessary to evaluate what is better: changing the roof, or adding a new coating on top. Usually, several layers (up to 8 layers) have already been glued on older roofs, so the weight of the roof increases significantly, in which case the strength of the building's structures must be assessed.
